My Father-in-law is going to be 81 next month, bless his heart. A die hard Republican if there ever was one. When Mccain chose Sarah Palin as his running mate, he told my wife that this is the greatest thing that has happened to the republican party in many years. My wife tried to set him straight, but he said I have been a republican for 60 years and I'm not gonna change now.
Here in Tennessee, they refer to the VP candidate as simply Sarah, with a great deal of affection. One older gentleman said that his grandkids hate Sarah, because she kills wolves, with another elderly gent responding, these kids today are all a bunch of tree hugging liberals. How many of these proud Americans have been duped and the truth is not something they would really care to know.
John Mccain will regret this pick to his dying day. Another pick such as Romney, Lieberman, Pawlenty or even Hutchinson, would have brought this race maybe down to the wire. With just a little over 2 weeks remaining, they have little hope of gaining ground. By going on SNL, doing robocalling and having to campaign in states that should be solid red, it seems they are just looking for a little credibility and the chance of avoiding a landslide.
Obama may have unknowingly palled around with a former terrorist, but John Mccain has sold his republican soul in a fit of desperation. The longer the campaign goes on, the more people realize that Sarah is way to dangerous to take a chance voting for Mccain. Too bad the die hards will never know how close they might have been to keeping the White house if Sarah would have just kept on killin those wolves instead of killin the campaign.
