Here is the latest bout of idiocy by Mr. "Maverick / Straight Talker" John McCain-
When asked at a Town Hall Meeting in Nevada on July 29th by a grade school aged girl "Will you raise our taxes?"
"No." was the blunt response to applause and laughter.
Yet on ABC's "This Week" 3 days earlier, McCain declared "all things are on the table" when discussing tax increases to pay for entitlements, Stephanopoulos quickly interjects "This would mean payroll tax increases are on the table as well??" and again McCain states "There is nothing that is off the table. I have my positions and I'll articulate them, but nothing is off the table."
Interesting. So "No" apparently means "Possibly" on the Straight Talk Express (maybe that's the dumbed-down version for children too young to comprehend "Straight Talk".)
Onward to idiocy!
The Tax Policy Center prepared an interesting report this week, noting the key differences between the economic policies articulated by John McCain and the economic policies presented by John McCain's presidential campaign. There's a gap to the tune of $2.8 trillion!!! (that's "trillion," with a "t").
How does the McCain campaign respond to this? Hilariously!
McCain's chief economic adviser states nationally on Fox News "[McCain] has certainly I'm sure said things in town halls that don't jibe perfectly with his written plan. But that doesn't mean it's official."
What? John McCain does not officially speak for the John McCain presidential campaign??
I'd love to just to play a loop of that on the PA after every answer he gives during his town hall meetings. Over and over "Just because he said it doesn't mean it's official!"
Town Hall Meeting on July 8-
MCCAIN: I've received every award from every major veteran's organization in America. I received every organization in America their awards. ... The reason why I have a perfect voting record from organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and all the other veterans service organizations is because of my support of them. [...]
VETERAN: You do not have a perfect voting record by the DAV and the VFW. [...]
MCCAIN: I've been endorsed in every election by every veterans organization that do that, I've been supported by them, and I've received their highest awards from all of those organizations.
Okay, truth time! John McCain's rating with the IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America) is graded at a D. His Senate voting record is rated at a dismal 20% by the Disabled Veterans of America. These are their highest awards??
And along bustles the "Straight Talk Express", which apparently in the McCain world means pull the talk straight out of your you-know-what.
Here is where Americans lose me- accountability?? Anyone??
A month from now all of his supporters will forget. Just like Obama when he showcased his hypocrisy on the FISA bill. No one cares now. My question is this- How long will we continue to put up with the 2 parties continuing to go back on their promises to no end? They do it, and then we still vote for them anyway. Every election when confronted with their hypocrisy the only response is "well okay, we're not that great, but so and so is worse! We just can't afford to let them become president!" Please. You both embrace inflation, corporatism, and couldn't keep a promise even if you placed in the social security lockbox. Democrats with their promises to end the war and reinstate constitutional rights with their majority rang as hollow as Republicans promising to work toward free markets and smaller government. Democrats approved the unconstitutional FISA bill and Republicans can't wait to pump out the largest annual spending spree in our nation's history. They made claims of reigning in big government while enjoying 12 years of congressional majority in which to do it, half of which with a rubber stamping republican president, and all they could manage to do was increase it by 27%. These people think voting for John McCain is going to somehow do something?!
Barack Obama is no angel either. I would know, I followed his political career very closely in the beginning and even donated money to the guy in 2006. I've been disgusted ever since.
He wiped his shoes with the 4th amendment (and he's a constitutional scholar, he knew exactly what his vote signified) on the FISA bill. He is still in favor of bailing out corporations with our tax dollars when they fail, which is nothing but shared investment risk with unshared investment return. I can't imagine pitching that one to potential stockholders, but Senator Obama thinks it's fine for Joe 6 pack taxpayer because he and everyone else in the 2 major parties doesn't give a damn about any of you. You are a walking cash register to serve their special interest masters (and yes, Obama is controlled by them just the same as every other politician, despite his anti-lobby rhetoric. He's about as much of a straight talker as McCain)
All you people can talk about is change, change, change; and you feel the best way to do it is to have another election between 2 men with the same agenda. Yeah, I know, they differ on abortion. Whoopee. Obama says he'll end the war. Whoopee. He also said, in his words, "unequivocally" no telecom immunity for illegal wiretapping. Wow, surprise, he changed his mind. Let me tell you how they're the same.
Both are in favor of-
Defying the 4th amendment rights against illegal search and seizure with continued disregard for the Constitution- check
Continuation of the income tax- check
Continuation of the practice of inflation, THE ENTIRE CAUSE OF THE HOUSING MELTDOWN AND 90% OF OUR ECONOMIC WOES- check
Continuation of bailing out bankrupt corporations so their ceo's and exec's can get golden parachutes with our money- check
Foreign intervention in the affairs of foreign nations, supporting arab tyrannies and police states such as Saudi Arabia and Jordan in exchange for bargain priced oil, the single strongest cause of our terrorism threat (15 of the 19 wtc hijackers were Saudi)- check
Unsecured borders, which the cia all but guarantees is where the next terror attack will come from (this is not a Hannity talking point, it's a fact)- check
Sending billions of our money in foreign aid to israel, and then sending even more to their enemies. Brilliant. Not like Americans need the money so badly the government resorted to printing stimulus checks for Christ's sake- check
Oh but wait, they differ on ABORTION! Nevermind, I DO have a real choice this fall!
Why can't you see the 2 parties are just the right and left arms of the same dead, rotting body? Anyone who hasn't realized that and still believes in either party is beyond naive. And don't give me any of this "hope" crap. I have a better idea- VOTE. VOTE AGAINST STATUS QUOBAMA AND JOHN W. MCSAME AND JOIN A THIRD PARTY.
People want to tell me (on both sides) my vote for a third party is a waste because, in their opinion, the right arm is worse than the left or vice versa. News flash douche bag- you're the one wasting your vote on a corpse.
