Anybody catch “Morning Joe” on MSNBC today? Joe Scarborough accuses Washington Post reporter Dana Priest of jeopardizing the safety of America by exposing the Bush Crime Family’s war crimes. Yeah, much better the torturers get away with it than let the American people know what our (cough) “elected” leaders are doing in our names.
How desperate is Scarborough to prove he can play right-wing media hit man with the big boy bullies on Fox like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck? Desperate enough to say this today:
"The second Dana Priest wrote her article and we had this debate on waterboarding, we were moving towards not using waterboarding again. We don’t -- these techniques are worthless now anyway. So, if planes go into buildings, well, don’t blame Barack Obama, blame Dana Priest and the chaos that occurred after that, ’cause that was -- when her article came out, from that point forward, this secret CIA program was dead on arrival."
Now let’s step into the wayback hypocrisy machine and recollect Scarborough’s reaction when (cough) “journalist” Robert Novak exposed the identity of Valerie Plame, endangering CIA agents worldwide and threatened the security of America?
According to Media Matters in July of 2007, when Novak appeared on “Morning Joe,” the two continued to push the false claim, made frequently by defenders of the administration in the media, that special counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald -- in Scarborough’s words -- “knew that no crime, no underlying crime had been committed” and yet Fitzgerald persisted with the investigation that resulted in the conviction of former vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby for perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false claims.
Gee Joe, not so worried about protecting innocent ‘mericans from evil journalists when it implicates one of your bloodsucking neocon buddies, are you?
