I think there is a plethora of reasons to deep-six Gitmo ... However, we could re-use that once needed prison Alcatraz. NOBODY will escape from there and it doesn't carry the "baggage" of Guantanamo.
I'll be first to admit I haven't done my homework here about Alcatraz, but I'm pretty sure it might be something to consider. Likely would need quite a lot of refurbishing, but could be the answer.
