From where I sit as an old retired working class American, I see our political leaders as a bunch of thieving elitist crooks focused on enriching themselves and their cronies across the globe. Why do you think the US government has backed so many dictators and leaders of banana republics, including, at one time, the deceased Saddam Hussein??? It's because they share the same interests...consolidation th of money and power for the ruling class. It used to be that the US could suck up enough of the world's resources so that our ordinary citizens could have a pretty good life on the leftovers of the rich elites and that kept people pacified. Now that the "less developed countries" have a large and powerful elite themselves and fast growing economies that are demanding and getting a substantial share, ordinary American workers are competing with other workers around the globe who make starvation wages and live in huts. Not to mention that countries like China now have taken over the majority of our manufacturing capacity using cheap cheap labor the American worker could never compete with. Meanwhile, the rich elites sit back and get richer, but now they are "global" rather than national. With globalization, we are moving towards a situation where the global corporate elites will live a life of extreme privilege and luxury and the rest will scrape by. It's Mad Max on steroids...
Love,
MAM
