Most every American is familiar with the movie version of the gangster "family," and how there's always a "contract" put out on one gang member or another. Although it is based on truth, it does make for wonderful theatrics.
Imagine, however, that the issue wasn't, as they say, "just business," but what you believe? Hard to imagine that. And yet, that's exactly what has happened to people of conscience, people who have dared to speak or write what's in their heart and mind. People like Sir Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasreen, Lars Vilks or Robert Redeker.
I am looking forward to hearing from just such a person on tonight's broadcast of Shakedown Street, hosted by by my friend and fellow broadcaster on the Free World Radio Network, Blog Talk Radio Featured host, Brian Wolf. Brian is interviewing Ayaan Hirsi Ali, one of Time Magazines "100 Most Influential People" of 2005, and a person living under a death threat.
I know that I will be tuned in today at 4:00pm Pacific Time. And I encourage all people of conscience to do the same.
