Live interview with Dana Cloud, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas. She is the author of a great new article on the neo-McCarthyist academic purges, "The McCarthyism that Horowitz Built". I just wrote to her: "By the way, you missed my own lesser-known McCarthyist horror story: in 2007 I was forced out of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I had been teaching (semester-by-semester) for ten years, due to political opinions I expressed on a radio show, and have been blacklisted ever since. See This. We spoke on the phone, and I learned that since publishing the article yesterday, Dana has been contacted by many professors from around the country who all have their own neo-McCarthyist horror stories to tell. Dana also mentioned that she is not unaware of the debates raging around the question of what really happened on 9/11, which have been pushed to the front burner by the recent discovery that the dust from the World Trade Center was full of high-tech explosive materials and their residues.
