Progressives take risks. They are dissatisfied with the status quo and aim to do something about it. Another name for them is "pioneer." Pioneering is what made the USA. People booked steerage and took their chances at Ellis Island. In this country, they left the old town and indentured themselves for three years to gain land of their own, which is the spirit of homesteading. Rank in the bottom percentile of a GRE exam and become a Ph.D.Got the picture? Progressives want something better, assess chances, and keep their eye on the ball. One thing progressives don't have time to do is whine, or worry about the "bad guys" who are out to sabotage their dreams.
However, be aware that saboteurs are there. Keep in mind that if you're part of the problem you want to be part of the solution.
Why do I believe all of us should paddle our own canoes? Because my homesteading parents told me that's the way the world works. How am I able to sit here and pontificate? First, I'm part of the problem. Social Security is taking a hit from the likes of me who refuse to roll over and be dead. Each morning when I read the obits I realize many others die at a later age than mine. I suspect most of them paddled their own canoes, too. And that part about the Graduate Record Exam. I passed with a good rating, excellent in social sciences. Had no desire to be a Ph.D. but was chagrined by the low rating in language. I'm working on it. Excuse my bluntness if I try to tell it like it is.
One other thing. OpEdNews permits me to edit those articles members write. I flub on the big picture sometimes, but I'm pretty good about fixing commas and spelling errors. Everyone has a little something to give back.
Give back! Progressives give back. It's better than talking back. Nevertheless, everyone has a right to their own say. What say you?
