Liberal elitists look like elitists. They have refined tastes, are well educated, participate in world culture, etc. But the policies they support are based on what's best for the masses. They vote to make sure the common individual gets a fair shot.Conservative elitists look like common folk. They drink beer, shoot riffles, talk about nationalism and family values, etc. But the policies they support are based on what's best for the wealthy and corporations. They don't give a damn about the common individual, who they see as being little more than expendable cattle.
Why is elitism seen as a bad thing? Is it not because the masses fear being exploited by the wealthy? This is precisely the behavior in which conservative elitists engage. And yet, because of surface appearances, conservatives are able to misdirect this fear of exploitation away from themselves (where it actually belongs) and onto liberals (to the detriment of the masses).
