OpEdNews - Diary: Let us all take a deep breath and hope

Maybe it became trendy to scoff at the use of the word "hope" but there is a time and place for its use. maybe this is a good time.

It seems there has been a lot written about hope, both pro and con. It has become popular to talk about “hope” like it is some foolish word, to be used by those that are not intellectually quick enough to grasp the “real truth”, whatever that is. I guess they are those that could do the same thing with love, passion, or any other human emotion because hope is just that, an emotion. It is the emotion shown by parents distraught over a critically ill child. It is the emotions of the Vietnam vet. That remembers long ago when he thought; “I am going to die right here” was the only thought in his head. Hope, that is all there was in either case. Hope is part of any belief system that I know of. His Holiness says, love, forgiveness, compassion, and self-discipline. Once again, all needing hope to succeed, so maybe let us all take a break at this historical moment; like it or not, this IS a historical moment and why not let us all “hope” that President Obama is very successful. There will be plenty of time to criticize and I can assure you, with Republicans, Progressives, liberals, conservatives, gays, straights, pro-life, right to choose, there will be plenty of people ready to attack.
