We are all aware of the fact that in 2000, thousands of black voters in the state of Florida were disenfranchised and effectively denied our constitutional right to vote. How many of us are aware of the details (and I'm not speaking merely of hanging chads and a prematurely halted recount)? Has anyone seen the amazing documentary called American Blackout (watch it for free on google video)? In it, former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney goes into great detail regarding how this was accomplished by corporations and government working in tandem (which Benito Mussolini appropriately termed Corporatism or FASCISM) to stage what turned out to be a coup at the highest levels of our government.

Contextually, I think it is important then to remember what followed in the wake of that hijacked election; hijacked airliners, 3000 civilian deaths, a cover-up of truly Hitlerian proportions in the form of faked investigations into the matter which produced zero accountability and nary a reprimand for anyone involved, an open ended war OF terror founded upon the tyrannical doctrine of preemption, the gutting of our constitution and the dramatic eroding of our so-called civil liberties through the legalization of torture, an assault on Habeus Corpus, the federalization of the US military in direct violation of Posse Comitatus which was written into the constitution to protect We The People from the threat of a police state, KATRINA, repeated despotic declarations by our Executive branch that they are above the laws of this land and effectively above the will of its people, and the prosecution of two (bordering on three if we go into Iran) immoral and unjust military occupations justified by lie upon lie upon lie at the behest of oil companies and defense contractors who own the corporate media, whose executives sit upon each other's boards (and in The White House, The US Congress, and The Senate), and who received billions in no-bid contracts after fear-mongering the American people into supporting their bloodily profitable war agenda and into giving up liberty for the false promise of security.
I think what we need in this country is an ideological revolution, waged aggressively yet peacefully, in order to restore the threadbare moral fabric of our nation and redress its present state of spiritual and economic bankruptcy. And it will take a heck of a lot more than electing a charismatic savior with oratorical flair and a talent for rhetorical flourishes extolling the gospel of "change."
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Justice, Then Peace...
