| President Obama has nominated Judge Sonia Sotomayor of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit as his pick to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Souter. Now repeat after me: Liberal activist, liberal activist, liberal activist, Hispanic liberal activist, racially motivated, liberal activist, empathy shampthy, female liberal activist . . . . Now repeat this, it matters not whom Obama nominates as Supreme Court Justice, s/he will be branded a liberal activist simply because the Right has no other basis for attack. Obama could resurrect William F. Buckley and St. Ronald Reagan and they would be branded liberal/activist by these desperate, dwindling neocon Congress members who are hanging onto their political power by the tippy-tips of their manicured fingernails. The remaining Republicans better tip-toe around this nomination and avoid the controversy as much as possible if they hope to retain the thready remnants of power they cling to as their careers hang over the abyss. One wheezy exhale from the cyborg Dick Cheney or gaseous discharge from the rubbery lips of El Rushbo could blow them right over the edge. If they were smart they would give Sotomayor a quick thumbs-up and move on, lest they be labled racist, misogynistic, or just otherwise petty. But they are fundamentally frightened and weak and will doubtless fall in line behind the ridiculous rhetoric of their New Leaders - Cheney and Rush - and will hack unconvincingly at Sotomayor's record with the aforementioned "liberal activist" mantra until the phrase has lost all meaning and the parroting politicians have lost all public credibility.
