I have been doing a good deal of thinking lately. I imagine all of the folks who read this site and others have also. Well, I decided to put some of mine on the web. Might as well share and see if any others agree with me, or maybe I'm just all alone here in my working to restore our constitutional republic.
Yes sir, this "economic" crisis is one hell of a mess folks. Yesterday, 17 October, the stock market took its' second largest loss ever. And we thought thay the Congrees, Secretary of Treasury and president had this thing solved? Looks like they missed a few things. Like the mortgage mess that was the tipping point to the entire melt down. They left out all those folks who are in default or near default. Ah, but they are "just" the working class people, how do they count? This whole deal is to keep the rich from losing any of their wealth. What, you really thought the bailout was maybe going to help the "regular" people? How silly of you. This is Amrica 2008. Get with the program folks. The rich gets theirs first, then, and only then, if there is any "left overs" will it "trickle down" to the "regular" folks. Yep, the old "trickle down" of the "saint" Ronnie of Ray-gun years is still alive and kicking in D.C.
I got an nice email from a good friend the other day. It had some awesome photos of the new F-22 jet fighter that the Air Force is putting into service. Now this machine is one super item for sure. It is about the most technically advanced aircraft in the entire world. But, the unit cost is over $100,000,000.00 EACH! Now think for a minute how that sort of money could be used for something better than a new weapons system. You know, odd ball things, like health care, Social Security, education, infrastructure. You know, those "minor" details that just could improve life for all of us, not just fatten the bottom lines for the defense contractors. Yep, it sure would be nice if some day we had a government that actually put some reeal money into programs that benefitted the people and not just a few select corporations.
I know we need to have decent weapons to defend our country, but this is getting way over the top lately. It has been getting this way for dercades, but now, well, we just cannot afford such "cool toys" as these any more. We're broke people! Besides, these aircraft will NOT see any action at all in Iraq or Afghanistan. The Air Force has already said as much. Well, of course, the "bad guys" in those countries do not have any air foces at all. The F-22 is NOT a ground support air craft. Nope, it is an offensive weapon, so it would be of no use in the two wars we are stuck in today. Just who the thing is meant to fight, I don't know.
The coming election has raised an old story line from certain areas of our society. Yes, Ms. Susan Sarandon has said that will leave America if McCain is "elected". Well, this is not the first time some "high profile" person has said such about an upcoming election. My opinion, if that is how she feels, let her go, and don't let the door hit her rear end as she goes. Sorry folks, but a true patriot loves his/her country and does not run when things don't go their way. I love America, I was born here as were my parents. Dad fought for this country in World War Two, I was a Marine and am a Vietnam vet. I have to stay here and do my small part to try and restore our constitutional republic. Those like Ms. Sarandon who feel like leaving, well, good-bye to them. I do not hold it against her, but really, who really cares if some actress leaves because the "wrong" guy "wins" this november. NO, I am NOT in favor of McCain, no way, no how. But, Obama is not going to be all that the likes of Ms. Sarandon and many others think he will be. Does she, or any of his other supporter really think he will give up any of the powers that Shrubbie has "claimed" for the office? Do you really think he will eliminate the "patriot act", the "military commissions act", or any of the illegal spying on Americans here at home? Remember, he voted FOR the FISA bill. He has also voted for every, or nearly every, "request" for funds for both the wars we are in today. YES, Obama will be better than Bush or McCain, but I do not think he will be the "savior" that many have made him out to be. My personal opinion, he is just another politician. He will say what he needs to say to get elected. When he wins his new office, he will do as he pleases and the public be damned. I would like to be wriong here, but I don't think I am. Nope, not voting for him either. My vote will go to a "minor" party candidate. Oh, and the donkey gang can quit the crap about how Mr. Nader "cost" them the elections in 2000 and 2004. In 2000, Gore lost all on his own. In 2004 Kerry did the same. Mr. Nader did NOT contribute to either loss by the donkey gang. I suppose if McCain "wins" this year, the donkey gang will again blame Mr. NAder for thier loss. Enough already. GEt over it democants, your guys lost on their own, both times.
My final comment for today is my hope that this economic mess will cause is all to stop and seriously think about this world we live in. I hope that as the country finds out that we are broke, we will stop ranting for more wars. We might even have to end the two we are in now. If we have no money, it will be veryt hard to keep the wars going. Who is going to lend us the money to buy the fuel for our war machines? Who is going to pay for our bombs and bullets? Just what I thought. Not very many countries are lining up for that task.
I would also hope that we would all stop and take the time to realize that we are all human beings, no matter what race, religion, creed, politics, or other "differences" we have. Every human being has the very same needs; food, clothing, and shelter. Every person has the same desires as well. Every human being wants to have a decent job to provide a decent life for themselves and their families. They ALL want their children to have at least as good a life as they have, and they really want their kids to have a better life than they currently have. No matter what relgion, race, creed, or politics. Those are basic human desires people. We ALL have them, the "differences" between us are mostly artificial. I have found that no matter what, people are people. If we just stop and take the time to get to know the "other" guy we will find that we CAN all get along. It is only when we let our "leaders" come along and tell us that our group is better than any other group that we get into trouble. What we need are real leaders, folks who are willing to stand up and say, Hey, we are allthe same at heart. We are ALL human beings, with the same basic needs and even the same basic desires. When that happens, then we can have a real peace on earth and good will toward all human beings.
Please stop for just a moment or two and think about this. What ARE the "differences" between us? They reall aren't that big. They really aren't all that real even. The "differences" between groups of people are, for the most part, artificial. Things like religion, politics, or philosophy, tec. Those are artificial, they are imposed on us by others. They are NOT a part of what makes us human. Just fake divisions, meant to separate us so as to make it easier for the "leaders" to rule over us.
We are all stuck on this small planet together, and we'd best learn that we, the people can get along with each other. The entire future of humanity demands that we do so, and soon.
