JUST WHAT IS UP, OEN MEMBERS?
about the Friday night debate --Time is important in discussing this!
I began to type at about 5:30 PM September 24, 2008, as C-Span displayed John McCain's statement to the press, where he briefly explained how important the bailout program is (several times) and then that there should be a postponement of Friday night's presidential debate. Keep in mind that this came earlier and was being rerun.
Following McCain , was a 15-minute rerun of Senator Obama's press conference, explaining that he had been in contact with Congressional leadership and the administration throughout the crisis. He and McCain conferred before they posted their positions on the bailout.
PBS' New Hour with Jim Lehrer will be airing Wednesday almost as I write this. (Lehrer is slated to be the moderator Friday for the debates.)
AND the President is coming on TV tonight (I don't know the exact time) to give his assessment of the financial situation.
In politics, things happen quickly. This note is asking those concerned about the various decisions involved to be alert for developments. ALSO Remember Rob Kall at 9:00 tonight has as guest Senator Bernie Sanders on his radio show.
MY QUESTION: Do we believe McCain is wimping out, or is it a good idea to wait for this administration to get its act together before we listen to those who will have to pick up the pieces?
