On his way to Chile for an Asia-Pacific economic summit, Powell told http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6516658/print/1/displaymode/1098 reporters that he has seen "some information that would suggest that they (Iran) have been actively working on delivery systems..." He said, "you don't have a weapon until you put it in something that can deliver a weapon."
Powell flatly stated that he "had information" that Iran not only had missiles, but was working hard to match warheads to missiles..." He said there "is no doubt in my mind..."
Sound familiar? Well, it gets better. There's always an "exile group" isn't there? Mohammad Mohaddessin is a bit more difficult to pronounce than "Ahmed Chalabi," but the MO's the same.
Mohaddessin, chairman of the National Council for Resistance in Iran (NCRI), who lives in Paris, bolstered Powell's claims by revealing Iran was "continuing to enrich uranium" and had no intentions of backing off its nuclear ambitions.
Now, I don't mean to sound cavalier about something so dire as gathering nuclear dangers or grave and sudden horror, but I've run about as far as I can with evil terriers nipping at my heels without stopping to catch my breath. We need to stop and ask ourselves why the sudden drumbeat against Iran -- why so loud and -- why now?
Could it be that, just three days ago Iran signed an agreement with Britain, France and Germany that it would not divert its peaceful nuclear energy program to military use? Could it be that this agreement, wherein Iran agreed to indefinitely suspend its uranium enrichment program is due to go into effect next week (Nov. 22)?
Could it be that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) just released a 32-page report that "all the declared nuclear material in Iran has baeen accounted for, and therefore such material is not diverted to prohibited activities?"
Powell blustered that BushCo hasn't decided what action to take following the Agreement between Iran and Europe -- and insisted that Iran's past violations warranted taking the matter to the U.N. Security Council...
After the needless, bloody destruction of more than 1,200 young U.S. men and women, ten times that number maimed and wounded, and thousands of Iraqi citizens blown to bits because of Powell's February 2003 bells-and-whistles show at the UN -- it looks like he would, at long last, have the common decency to just hang it up, turn out the light -- and go...
