AMY GOODMAN: Seymour Hersh, what about the role of Vice President Dick Cheney, the Deputy National Security Advisor Elliott Abrams?

SEYMOUR HERSH: Well, you always -- any time you have violent anti-Iran policy and anti-Shia policy, you have to start looking there. Look, clearly this president is deeply involved in this, too, but what I hear from my people, of course, the players -- it’s always Cheney, Cheney. Cheney meets with Bush at least once a week. They have a lunch. They usually have a scheduled lunch. And out of that comes a lot of big decisions. We don’t know what’s ever said at that meeting. And this is -- talk about being opaque, this is a government that is so hidden from us.

So I can’t -- I can tell you that -- you know, the thing that’s amazing about this government, the thing that’s really spectacular, is even now how they can get their way mostly with a lot of the American press. For example, I do know -- and, you know, you have to take it on face value. If you’ve been reading me for a long time, you know a lot of the things I write are true or come out to be more or less true. I do know that within the last month, maybe four, four-and-a-half weeks ago, they made a decision that because of the totally dwindling support for the war in Iraq, we go back to the al-Qaeda card, and we start talking about al-Qaeda. And the next thing you know, right after that, Bush went to the Southern Command -- this was a month ago -- and talked, mentioned al-Qaeda twenty-seven times in his speech. He did so just the other day this week -- al-Qaeda this, al-Qaeda that. All of a sudden, the poor Iraqi Sunnis, I mean, they can’t do anything without al-Qaeda. It’s only al-Qaeda that’s dropping the bombs and causing mayhem. It’s not the Sunni and Shia insurgents or militias. And this policy just gets picked up, although there’s absolutely no empirical basis. Most of the pros will tell you the foreign fighters are a couple percent, and then they’re sort of leaderless in the sense that there’s no overall direction of the various foreign fighters. You could call them al-Qaeda. You can also call them jihadists and Salafists that want to die fighting the Americans or the occupiers in Iraq and they come across the border. Whether this is -- there’s no attempt to suggest there’s any significant coordination of these groups by bin Laden or anybody else, and the press just goes gaga. And so, they went gaga a little bit over the Syrian connection to the activities in Tripoli. It’s just amazing to me, you guys.

On Friday a U.S. Navy warship fired on an alleged ‘al-Qaeda’ site in Somalia and look for more of the same as the path to WWIII is traversed. Contrary to the opinion of some, the neocon delusions of conquering the world haven’t been derailed they have only changed partners. Speaking of neocon snakes, that duplicitous little twerp Joe Lieberman showed up in Iraq the other day to cheer for his war dressed up in a silly assed sort of civilian soldier combo that made Michael Dukakis in the tank look like George Fucking Patton. While the Wandering Jew didn’t make the complete ass out of himself that his better half John McCain and his clownish sidekick Lindsey ‘five rugs for five bucks’ Graham did during their botched public relations stop awhile back, the picture of the Republican lackey dressed up in his helmet and flak vest brought to mind a morphing of Sgt. Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes and Bugs Bunny’s outer space nemesis Marvin the Martian channeled by Artie Johnson on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh In. It’s a shame that that picture (a fucking money shot if there ever was one) wasn’t available before the elections because if it would have ran during a campaign commercial barrage then the chosen one Ned Lamont would be in the Senate and Lieberman would now be well into his new career as a highly paid pharmaceutical lobbyist – it would be an easy transition since he is already intimately familiar with them.

A thirty second spot with that picture leading into American Idol and/or Sunday Night Football would have made a public mockery of the little schmuck and would have been something that not even a rat-faced egomaniac like Markos M. Zuniga or the increasingly adrift Move On could have fucked up. Incidentally this would have deprived the Judas Dems of one of their excuses for caving in, that Lieberman was threatening to change parties – interesting how he seems to turn up like Zelig at the most opportune moments for the war party and I can only speculate on how he may have worked to sabotage the 2000 Gore campaign as a mole working from within but that is going to have to be a story for another time.

The pieces are all falling into place for the implementation of the neocon world domination plan, the coming war of civilizations (couched of course in Christianity versus Islam), the eradication of any meaningful dissent in the homeland and the ongoing quest to carve out a comfortable zone of Lebensraum for Israeli expansionist warmongers along with the propping up of the thoroughly corrupt House of Saud is now ready to roll courtesy of the last remaining significant obstacle which was taken care of when the craven Judas Democrats caved in on ending the Middle Eastern occupation and the neocon cabal couldn’t have wished for a more fortuitous turn of events.

In the aftermath of the Democrat’s failure to reign in the soon to be escalated Middle East meat grinder the rejuvenated neocons are taking full advantage of the demoralizing sucker punch to the anti-war movement and rejoicing that the hated Cindy Sheehan has even packed it in now. Cheney and the neocons are sowing the media with propaganda, have implemented an executive order to take over the government and all civilian functions to lockdown the massive public unrest in the aftermath of starting WW III and are now prodding their desperate lackey Ehud Ohlmert into provoking Iran with a first strike. The besieged and highly unpopular Israeli Prime Minister will likely do anything to salvage his regime with the sulfuric breath of bloodthirsty fanatic Benjamin Netanyahu broiling the flesh at the nape of his neck. A propaganda campaign has been launched to prepare Israel for “all-out war” which serves to confirm the recent news that Dick Cheney’s war pigs are planning to do an “end run” around Le Enfant Terrible and the tepid Condi Rice, repel Admiral Fallon and several others intention to “put the crazies back in the box".

The always informative and on the cutting edge paleoconservative Paul Craig Roberts took a look at the failure of the Judas Dems and the repercussions for us all in a recent piece that he did that is available at antiwar.com:

The Washington, DC, think-tank, The American Enterprise Institute, camouflages its purpose with its name. There is nothing American about AEI, and the organization’s enterprise is fomenting war in the Middle East against Israel’s enemies. Its real name should be The Likud Center for Middle East War.

AEI has the largest collection of warmongers in America. AEI "scholars" have agitated for war in the Middle East for years. A moronic president and 9/11 gave them their opportunity. Now that the US invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan have failed, the AEI warmongers are conspiring with Vice President Cheney to foment war with Iran.

Writing in the Washington Note, Steven C. Clemons reports that Cheney is working with the AEI warmongers to short-circuit the efforts of Bush’s secretaries of defense and state to find a diplomatic solution. Clemons reports that one former high level national security official describes the Cheney-AEI conspiracy as possibly an act of "criminal insubordination" against President Bush.

Now that the Democrats have betrayed their mandate of last November to end Bush’s war against Iraq and given Bush carte blanche to continue the gratuitous bloodshed, the neoconservative plan, spearheaded by Vice President Cheney, to initiate aggression against Iran, is back on the front burner.

Multiple sources have reported that a senior aide on Vice President Cheney's national security team has been meeting with policy hands of the American Enterprise Institute, one other think tank, and more than one national security consulting house and explicitly stating that Vice President Cheney does not support President Bush's tack towards Condoleezza Rice's diplomatic efforts and fears that the President is taking diplomacy with Iran too seriously.

This White House official has stated to several Washington insiders that Cheney is planning to deploy an "end run strategy" around the President if he and his team lose the policy argument.

The thinking on Cheney's team is to collude with Israel, nudging Israel at some key moment in the ongoing standoff between Iran's nuclear activities and international frustration over this to mount a small-scale conventional strike against Natanz using cruise missiles (i.e., not ballistic missiles).

This strategy would sidestep controversies over bomber aircraft and overflight rights over other Middle East nations and could be expected to trigger a sufficient Iranian counter-strike against US forces in the Gulf -- which just became significantly larger -- as to compel Bush to forgo the diplomatic track that the administration realists are advocating and engage in another war.

There are many other components of the complex game plan that this Cheney official has been kicking around Washington. The official has offered this commentary to senior staff at AEI and in lunch and dinner gatherings which were to be considered strictly off-the-record, but there can be little doubt that the official actually hopes that hawkish conservatives and neoconservatives share this information and then rally to this point of view. This official is beating the brush and doing what Joshua Muravchik has previously suggested -- which is to help establish the policy and political pathway to bombing Iran.

The zinger of this information is the admission by this Cheney aide that Cheney himself is frustrated with President Bush and believes, much like Richard Perle, that Bush is making a disastrous mistake by aligning himself with the policy course that Condoleezza Rice, Bob Gates, Michael Hayden and McConnell have sculpted.

According to this official, Cheney believes that Bush can not be counted on to make the "right decision" when it comes to dealing with Iran and thus Cheney believes that he must tie the President's hands.

I personally addressed the issue of the incessant meddling by The American Enterprise Institute awhile back in my piece War Pigs and have no doubt, that this festering nest of fascist snakes is a grave threat to American security both foreign and domestic and somebody in the pocket media had better take a fucking really serious look at this collection of fifth columnists before it is too late.

The loudest megaphone for the neocon world domination tour and advocate for across the board amnesty for every thieving rotten traitor in the Bushreich is the Wall Street Journal and it’s only going to get worse as the Dow Jones corporation is currently the target of a Rupert Murdoch takeover bid because God knows that the national media hasn’t been polluted by psychopathic fifth columnists, rank pimps and their manipulative sleazeballs like Bill O’Reilly, Joe ‘they found a dead intern in his office’ Scarborough, scam artists like Jim Cramer, the insipid Glenn Beck and their ilk already. The mockingbirds at the WSJ ran an editorial on Friday demanding the pardoning of Scooter Libby and further smearing Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald in the shame double choke reich wing shit slime that they typically use when smearing the enemies of looter capitalism:

Lewis "Scooter" Libby is due to be sentenced next week, and--just in time--Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has decided this was a leak case after all. Last week he filed a brief with the court arguing that Mr. Libby should receive a prison sentence in line with crimes that neither he nor anyone else was ever accused of committing. If the court accepts Mr. Fitzgerald's logic, the sentence meted out in this fantastic case would at least double, to a minimum of 30 months. So it goes in a case brought by an unaccountable prosecutor now requesting an unreasonable penalty based on evidence he never introduced at trial. This is America?

Here is the link which likely won’t be working for long because the WSJ demands moola to view it’s propaganda which is only briefly revealed like a rat’s ass to a feral cat before it disappears behind an electronic stonewall – of course after it is picked up and sent through the wretched bowels of the Republican noise machine (Drudge, Town Hall, World Net Daily and assorted Murdoch rags) like a rancid turd propelled through a bacteria choked sewer pipe. You can get this article for pay of course but then again isn’t that what the WSJ is all about anyway? The ugly truth (pre-Murdoch takeover version) is that the Wall Street Journal is the mightiest of all the mighty Wurlitzers of globalist corporate propaganda and is as indispensable to hard core ‘free market’ fanatics as the availability of cheap overseas sweatshop labor is to their bottom lines.

Crony Capitalists revel in the in depth coverage of corporate maneuvers and gossip of impending mergers and acquisitions that are predominant features of the Journal. The slavering devotion to promoting the ill advised policy of cutting taxes on the rich while increasing spending dramatically to ‘starve the beast’ is a dogma which the Journal promotes with missionary zeal while preaching to a choir of elitist, Chivas sipping, Lexus driving, Ayn Rand worshipping, gluttonous greed mongers. Gordon Gekko was a piker compared to the predators that have evolved since the golden era of Reagan deregulatory sprees, naked avarice and market manipulation

However, to broad brush the entire paper due to it’s target audience of the capitalist vultures who have no qualms over their profiting off of the screwing of the American working class, profiteering off of bloody foreign wars or booking gains made possible by the exploitation of sweatshop child labor toiling under barbaric conditions in third world shit hole factories is not the point here. The Wall Street Journal actually does have a fairly decent news operation that steers clear of the cheap and sleazy celebrity garbage that threatens to turn other papers into nothing more than toned down versions of the National Enquirer and other cheesy check stand tabloids – but all that is soon to change when Murdoch gets his grubby claws on it. Hillary’s illegal alien love children, Natalee Holloway abducted by liberals and regular updates on Al Gore’s electric bill will soon be joining forces with a financial stats section that is a speculator’s dream and that wholly encourages the raging laissez faire cancer that has eaten away the backbone of American prosperity and an editorial section that is so plagued by demons that there must be a portal to Hell itself somewhere in the office – kind of like Being John Malkovich but of course minus any of the entertaining cameo appearances by John Malkovich who is replaced in this story by the devil himself or at the very least the shrieking, chain rattling ghost of Milton Friedman.

The WSJ is to the speculators and high rollers what the racing form and tip sheet are to bookies and gambling addicts. The commonality is that both are degenerate gamblers in the same manner that a degenerate, chicken-necked, crack addict offering cut rate blowjobs to obtain a daily fix and a ‘high class’ thousand dollar an hour prostitute are both whores. While extolling the alleged virtues of Adam Smith’s Invisible Hand the WSJ fails to mention the obvious contradictions between the selective interpretations of his ‘Wealth of Nations’ and the realities of modern day society. Smith would definitely not be a proponent of the unrestrained ‘free market’ of today and it’s grossly disproportionate favoritism of the wealthiest of the wealthy and unaccountable corporations and their wholly owned subsidiary on the Potomac. In fact Smith’s treatise, due to the period in which it was first published was completely unable to foresee the detrimental and corrupting effects on the free market by high technology, unaccountable transnational corporations and the individuals who guide them with no regard whatsoever to the continuing stability and health of the local community which must should in theory be the benefactor of trade, provided that the ownership has a vested interest in such a community.

The perverse concept of totally unregulated capitalism actually lessens the ability of the markets to be either free or fair and when coupled with an inherently corrupt political system in which the largest of corporations are able to throw money around by the bushel like a rancher feeding slop to pigs to eliminate regulatory oversight and stack the deck in their favor it is anything but a free market and the small business owners as well as the consumers are the ones who are getting the shaft. Most Americans don’t even get the benefit of a reach around by the ‘invisible hand’ while being buggered by the unfettered ‘free market’ bastardization of capitalism that with any luck will be exposed as just another failed economic system destined to one day (the sooner the better) assume it’s rightful place in the family plot of doomed ideologies next to the grave of totalitarian communism.

The WSJ editorial page also this week featured a prominent piece by one of the godfathers of the neoconservative movement Norman Podhoretz advocating the bombing of Iran ( a step up in prestige from AEI third stringer yutz Joshua Muravchik who wrote one very modestly entitled "Bomb Iran" for the LA Times last year) as well as using the standard 1938 Germany and the New Hitler talking point that has been flogged to death by Netanyahu, Newt Gingrich and the rest of the smarmy warmongers to whom no amount of spent American blood is too much for them to prove that they are utterly fucking batshit. But enough of my tangent about the WSJ, it will soon be under total neocon control once sufficient arm twisting has been performed on the Bancroft family to turn the operation over to the parasitical Murdoch so I digress….

I am not going to bother getting into the standard AIPAC pressure on Democrats because it is widely known that any potential candidate has to prostrate themselves in front of those agents of a foreign government who are more concerned with what is good for Israel than what is good for America. This ultra-powerful activist army of dual loyalists pose as kingmakers along with their winged monkeys in the Christian Zionist Rapture death. These dead-enders are led by the mainical Reverend John Hagee and his pressure group CUFI (Christians United For Israel) but rest assured that there was no small amount of pressure put on the Judas Dems to roll over and enable the implementation of A Clean Break and the rest of the agenda of the PNAC lunatic fringe. According to a recent story in The Nation magazine language forbidding Emperor Bush from attacking Iran without the approval of Congress was strictly verboten and was stripped from the Iraq supplemental:

The night before Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi addressed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's (AIPAC) annual conference, House Democrats removed language from an Iraq supplemental bill that would have prevented President Bush from attacking Iran without Congressional approval.

"Conservative Democrats as well as lawmakers concerned about the possible impact on Israel had argued for the change in strategy," the Associated Press reported. "Opposition to the Iran language from conservative Blue Dogs had threatened to sink the spending plan," added National Journal's Congress Daily.

Hawkish "pro-Israel" organizations, on the Jewish and Christian right, have been leading advocates of a more confrontational Iran policy. Thousands of supporters are in town for AIPAC's star-studded convention, which as usual drew half of the Senate and a third of the House, including members of both parties' leadership.

It is all so easy to see now. Dick Cheney immediately followed the inept moron Condi Rice during her recent Middle East tour likely undoing everything and cutting the necessary deals that would allow for the coming attack on Iran. The neocon cabal has to go through with it’s grandiose plans for world domination, they absolutely cannot allow for an honest investigation of 9/11 to EVER occur for they have far too much at stake. They will drag the entire country along with the Middle East down the abyss and through the gates of Hell itself in order to prevent it.

Armageddon Is Coming - but there will be no Rapture, we are all going to be fucking incinerated right beside the zealots and the Democrats can't stop it - only we can.

This is a party of shame and a shameful legacy it will have left. Allowing so much power to be consolidated in the presidency to form a unitary executive/dictator, the gutting of the Constitution, the of codifying torture into law, virtually eliminating bankruptcy protections for all but the tax dodging rich and the transnational corporations who game the system by using it as a tool for doing business, two fascist Supreme Court justices, an abysmal failure to hold ANY member of a criminal administration accountable, the failure to crack down on illegal immigration allowing corporations to flood the market with cheap labor and further depress wages, a plethora of so-called ‘free trade’ deals that have laid waste to the middle class, big brother style spying, a creeping police state, an increasingly powerful and unchecked private army in Blackwater that will be used one day in the near future to brutalize American citizens,

I could continue listing the abysmal abrogation of their sworn oaths to uphold the Constitution but I don’t have all fucking day.

It is time for coalition building with elements of the anti-war right.

The Democrats have consistently proven that they have no interest in threatening the status quo nor in stopping the death in Iraq. Worse yet when it comes to opposition to the coming global catastrophe ignited by an unprovoked attack triggered by a possible Gulf of Tonkin style false flag incident). In interrupting their orgy of premature self congratulation they have been remiss in preventing a coming strike on Iran and in putting their stamp of approval on more war they have become nothing other than turnstiles for the neocon madmen. Never has a political party so utterly failed the American people than the DLC Democrats and the worst is still to come once the mechanism that they have triggered through their cowardice and collaboration with the enemy within locks completely into place.

Condemnation of the DLC Democrats should not stop with non-support but should be backed with a relentless effort to defeat these backstabbing bitches and bastards in every mother fucking race from dogcatcher on up even if it results in restoring total Republican control to Congress because truthfully, what is the fucking difference? Americans need an alternative to the pro-militarist, pro-globalization, anti-union hacks who represent only the wealthy, Wall Street, the oil industry parasites, the Israel Lobby, credit card companies, Big Pharma, crony capitalists, rapacious bloodsucking insurance companies, agribusiness conglomerates, transnational corporations and all of those vultures who traffic in human misery, blood and never ending warfare that ensures that the game stays rigged, the populace ignorant and their global redistribution of wealth continues unimpeded. The DLC Democrats are the same servants of the oligarchy only in my opinion are far worse than the Republicans who you expect to be rat-fuckers. The GOP is brazenly up front with their agenda, they may be the devil but the DLC Democrats are far worse, they are like Judas Iscariot ready to barter away the current lives of millions and the futures of their children for a smattering of chump change.
