Hi Ya'll,
Thought I'd write another post in the series 'Journalists I Respect'.
Today's journalist is John Pilger.
Wikipedia: "Pilger's career in journalism began in 1958, and he has developed his reputation through both his reporting and the various books and documentary films that he has written or produced. He is best known in Britain for his investigative documentaries, particularly those on Cambodia and East Timor. He has acted as a war correspondent during conflicts in Vietnam, Cambodia, Egypt, India, Bangladesh and Biafra. In all of his work, Pilger has been a prominent and fervent critic of Western foreign policy. He is particularly opposed to many aspects of American foreign policy, which he regards as being driven by a largely imperialist agenda."
Mr. Pilger has written for several publications. Just to name a few: Daily Mirror (UK), The Guardian (UK), The Independent (UK), The Morning Star (UK), New Statesman (UK), The New York Times (US), The Los Angeles Times (US), The Nation: New York (US), The Age: Melbourne (Australia), The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), The Bulletin: Sydney (Australia), Green Left Weekly (Australia), Information Clearing House (internet).
He's also written books: 'Heroes', 'A Secret Country', 'Distant Voices', 'Hidden Agendas', 'Reporting the World: John Pilger's Great Eyewitness Photographers', 'The New Rulers of the World'.
He's also produced documentaries: <a href="http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-210088912352527308" target="_blank">"Breaking the Silence: Truth and Lies in the War on Terror"</a> and <a href="http://video.google.nl/videoplay?docid=-3667764379758632511" target="_blank">"Stealing a Nation"</a>
Ok, so right about now you're saying come on Troubled enough with the idol worship. What's the point of this post?
I'm glad you asked.
Earlier today I had the opportunity to watch Mr. Pilger's film 'The War on Democracy'.
The film chronicles US foreign policy in Central and South America for the last 50 some odd years. After watching this film, I must say, the individuals and government agencies that enforce US foreign policy should be arrested and brought before <a href="http://www.thehaguelegalcapital.nl/" target="_blank">The Hague</a>.
Mr. Pilger's film documents how the US government overthrew several democratically elected foreign governments over the last 50 years.
He interviews victims of the atrocities, he shows news clips of those periods, and he obtains CIA documentation to back his stance.
<strong>Warning: This film shows video footage of people being shot to death</strong>
Watch it!

I had always believed that the US was a just nation and would treat other nations fairly. I now realize that the US government is my own worst enemy.
I now feel like one of <a href="http://nobelprize.org/educational_games/medicine/pavlov/readmore.html" target="_blank">Pavlov's dogs</a>.
