First of all, angry demands from people who haven't anything close to expertise in how to resolve the problems of our financial markets and their impact upon the economy does not constitute good strategy. When we oppose the actions of our government or Congress, the only effective way to win our arguments is to have them in the first place. Second, these conditions have cropped up because progressives have been asleep at the switch, not the government or Congress. They are only doing what they like to do, what is most comfortable to do, what keeps them elected, and what we have allowed them to do because we have not been practicing good democracy. Progressives have failed to act decisively in their own best interests. Progressives seem to think that the only time to do something is when it's too late to do anything about it. And that's just what we're doing now. How many progressive writers have you seen until recently paying any attention at all to the stock market? Now we're all writing about it as though we've known all along and no one else has been paying attention. We insist that the only way to stop government from behaving like idiots is to behave like an idiot as well. No plan other than for today, or this week. We use the word NOW in capital letters a lot. No future plan, no long term strategy. United Progressives has that strategy. We need to make the decision now to act in our best interest and unite. When we unite, that's when we'll have the power to do something. Until then, we'll continue to provide interesting entertainment for national television but not much else. If you're not a member, then it's time to join right now. Join United Progressives and help progressives unite. |

I saw Whoopie Goldberg this morning on the View shouting angrily into the camera that the government needs to pay off half of all subprime mortgage loans that have failed. She was actually raising her fist. I like Whoopie, and I like her energy. Anger and outrage at what the government has allowed to happen to this country's financial stability should be everywhere. And it is. This sort of thing is of course what we on the left are noted for, and it somehow succeeds almost every time in demonstrating, unfortunately, just how stupid we are.
