McCain and Obama are different. But, they are also very similar. When considering what they have in common, why waste my energy organizing and voting for either?
McCain and Obama both say "no" to:
Adopting a single-payer health care system
Cutting the huge, bloated, wasteful military budget
Aggressive crackdown on corporate welfare and corporate crime
Opening up the presidential debates
Reversing U.S. policy in the Middle East
Impeaching Bush/Cheney
Repealing the Taft-Hartley anti-union law
Adopting a Wall Street securities speculation tax
Putting an end to ballot access obstructionism
Working to end corporate personhood
Defending, restoring, and strengthening our civil justice system
AND
Adopting the National Initiative
They also say "yes" to nuclear power while placing little emphasis on wind and solar energy as a real, possible solution to our energy crisis. They say "yes" to AIPAC and saber-rattling that is a violation of international law. They say "yes" to telecom immunity and intelligence gathering practices that threaten American civil liberties.
Where does this nation go if McCain or Obama as president say no to these issues? Where does it go if we the people vote for them even when they fail to give attention to these policies/issues?
What's our breaking point? Do we the people have one?
