Happy Birthday, Bob (62)

::::::::

"Bob Seger will always remember his high school's prom. That's because he was the entertainment.

He was a sophomore in a band with a guitar player and a drummer, and they played for the junior prom at his high school in Ann Arbor, Mich. They played songs by Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Bob Seger.

He says he was able to slip in two of his original songs. The songs never became anything in the Bob Seger catalog, but he's proud he was able to do that, especially since it was his first gig ever."

My first Bob Seger concert was one of those where I had to ask who the artist is and my friends would say "what ? You don't know who Bob Seger is ? Dude, you really must be from Kansas !" and then stand there in awe because I knew so many of his songs from radio. The one Seger song that reached out and grabbed my heart was "Against The Wind" and I think that when I heard it for the first time ever ...I knew right away it was my song ; a song about someone who has a bad habit of questioning authority every chance he gets.
