* Israeli leaders are meeting to decide whether to expand the offensive in Gaza or consider an initiative by France and Egypt for an immediate ceasefire.

Israel cautiously welcomes French- Egyptian ceasefire plan for Gaza; President Sarkozy calls for proposal to be put in place quickly; Gaza fighting resumes following three hour truce:
