Israel current policies, provocative actions and belligerent language are all hurting the United States.
The US has two unresolved wars both of which are not helped by Israel's stubbornness on settlements and the effect this has on world wide Muslim goodwill. These wars put severe diplomatic and financial strains on the US at a time when the US needs the world goodwill support to negotiate and navigate its way through the current economic crisis.
Even Indonesia, a country lauded by President Obama during his recent visit for promoting moderate Islamic position has made clear that it considers the US position on Israeli Settlements to be weak, this is only reinforced by the Israeli tendency to announce new building in a way that can only be seen as deliberately designed to humiliate the US.
NATO, a key part of the US security architecture is scrambling to contain the fall out from the collapse in the Israel/Turkey relationship following the Gaza Flotilla Raid, a collapse which could arguably been contained by some diplomatic language and fence mending but has now instead seen Turkey list Israel as a strategic threat.
Saudi Arabia is withdrawing from facilitating negotiations with the Taliban designed to end the Afghani War, Saudi has always indicated that a Middle East Peace settlement is one of its key strategic objectives, arguably no movement on one has effected the other?
How for that matter can Saudi Arabia or anyone else rely on US guarantees if it is not strong enough to curb Israeli intransience?
USA wider interests are being damaged by Israel's policies.
