Last night I was watching some show on Animal Planet with my daughter about the horrors of invasive species. It spoke about how the species overpopulated, ate everything in sight, and oozed various types of poisons. Some species had no predators, and just took over ravaging the eco-systems.What was funny or not funny is that we began to notice that the worst invasive species and most destructive appeared to be the European invaders to native lands. I'm not talking about animals here. I'm talking about the human variety. As we waltz through time and look at the numerous invasions, land grabs, conquerors through history, we see that many slaughtered quite a lot of people, but what did they do to the environment? As far as I can tell, they didn't do much until Columbus came along.
With Columbus we begin to see human slaughter, the overpopulation of several continents, and eco-devastation. Just the transformation East Coast of America from lush, green and fertile to an overpopulated, dirty, polluted wasteland of city streets to Australia where many odd and peculiar animals were hunted to extinction, one can see the eco-disaster that came in front of Columbus and European conquest from the 1500's until today.
I am trying to think of another time in history where man was so destructive towards Mother Nature, and I simply cannot think of one. Whether it is European conquest or conquest through European ideas and philosophy one can see the consequences where ever one goes.
Some of the nicer places on Earth had little contact with the West, and some of the ugliest had the most. China as the West's little worker buddy has turned its landscape into a polluted hell on earth. I'll admit it was several years ago when I went there, but I will never forget the complete torture Nature endured under their reign. Other places were turned into broiling pits of prostitution where US armies had maintained a presence. Thailand always had some tea houses on the edge of town, but prostitution did not upend their entire culture until the Vietnam era.
Now we are entering an age where our planet could be completely destroyed, and the invasive species is still spewing out nonsense about the environment, about population control, and about the economy. These three things are wound together. Overpopulation perpetuated by Christianity, Islam, and various other philosophies is tied to the economy. The economy that we have was brought over by Columbus. Overpopulation was brought by Columbus. If you take a look at how many children natives had at the time of Columbus's arrival, you will see that they controlled their numbers. If you look at your own European ancestors at the time, you will see that the women married at the age of 14, and began popping out as many as twenty children each. My own grandmother married at the age of 14. My own ancestors had up to twenty kids. One of them was on the Mayflower.
It's time to stop the nonsense, and change our ways before the planet implodes from our aggression, and maniacal quest for wealth and conquest.
