Steve Hammons asks: "Despite recent election results reflecting Americans' concerns about the Iraq War and related matters, will George W. David Swanson and Jonathan Schwarz write: "Beyond the lies and manipulations that took us to war, and the corruption that has dominated the war, there is a third broad area that needs to be investigated - but much of which won't be without serious public pressure on Congress. This is the area of war crimes: the targeting of civilians, hospitals, ambulances, and journalists; the use of illegal weapons; the detentions, extraordinary renditions, abuse, torture, ghost prisoners; the setting up of a global network of secret CIA prisons; and murder."

David Rovics | The First Amendment: Good When You Can Get It
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/020207O.shtml
David Rovics writes: "We live in a class society that operates under the golden rule - those who have the gold make the rules, and everybody else has to stand up for his rights by other means. Those who have the gold declare the wars, consistently lie about the real purpose of the war, and profit from the war. Those without the gold fight and die in the wars ... the smooth operation of any society requires that most people do not see history and reality this way.... if it seems this kind of awareness is spreading, and manifesting itself on the streets, one frequent way to deal with this is through disinformation or omission of information, and both subtle and overt forms of repression."

Flag design: truth_to_power2006@yahoo.com
Everyday when I read thru all my newsletters, this thought gets lodged in my head: Meanwhile, the Iraq war rages on. all these people writing and bitching and offering their insights. meanwhile, the war rages on. All those politicians who used the war as a platform and got their way into the House or Senate... why haven't they stopped the war like they said they would? because they have absolutely no intention of doing that. (Secretary of Defense Robert) Gates says we are not planning for war with Iran: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070202/ts_nm/usa_iran_gates_dc Riiiiight. Instead of reading what is written, read what is not said. Read, "No, we're not planning for war (with Iran)." as "The war (with Iran) is already planned." Not planning for war with Iran, eh? But, but, but: http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/020107C.shtml See? The war with Iran is already planned.
Meanwhile, the Iraq war rages on. Not only are they not going to cease the Iraq operation, they're going to expand the operation into Iran. It's already planned.
It appears very obvious that the 'elected' representatives in Congress are NOT going to do anything to bring an immediate stop to the war and bring the troops home as they've all promised. Any thinking to the contrary is wasted time. I hope everyone who marched on Washington recently-- "tens" of thousands-- feels good about themselves and the time they wasted. I also read that most of the Congress people vacated the premises when anti-war activists descended on the Hill to speak with their reps. Big surprise? Hardly. Their absence should be seen by 'We the People' as an intentional snubbing. That alone should have been enough to clue 'We the People' into the fact that Congress is on Bushes side, not the peoples side. Why didn't they stick around to listen to the peoples concerns? Because they don't care, that's why. They don't give a rattling damn about what 'We the People' want. They never have. If they truly did, the war would have never gotten off the ground.
The only thing that will bring about an end to the Iraq war is for citizens to march into Washington DC with the intention of overthrowing the government and taking the Capital. This is the battle cry everyone's been waiting for, yet no one is uttering it. This penny-ante Mickey Mouse pitch-a-bitch protest didn't work for Viet Nam and it won't work for Iraq or Iran. If you're gonna march, do it right.
We are overrun with Nazis. It's time to kick them out and take back what's left of America before it becomes another illegal Israeli settlement.

************* Looking for someone? *************
We all have friends with whom we've lost contact. Sometimes we're lucky enough to reconnect. But tracking down a long lost friend can be difficult. Recently, I recommended using a blog to find people. When friends put their names in a search site, they'd discover you're looking for them. But not everyone has the time or persistence to maintain a blog. In that case, there's another solution: Long Time Lost. It's similar to the theory behind starting a blog. When friends put their names in a search site, they should get a link to Long Time Lost. The site will then facilitate a reunion. Chances are someone is trying to find you. So, browse the listings on the site. You may find your name!
