Neil Abercrombie from Hawaii’s 1st District
Neil is a representative who we should pressure and engage in talk about impeaching Cheney. He is one we should hope will side with the American people because he was one of the 39 co-sponsors of H. Res. 635 in the 109th Congress. H. Res. 635 would have created “a select committee to investigate the Administration's intent to go to war before congressional authorization, manipulation of pre-war intelligence, encouraging and countenancing torture, retaliating against critics, and to make recommendations regarding grounds for possible impeachment.”
Neil Abercrombie is a member of the House worth keeping around. If not for the fact that he does not stand up to the Democratic Leadership who are clearly wrong in their handling of impeachment so far, he is a solid politician that we should be happy to have in Washington. He is signed on as a co-sponsor of H.R. 676, the single-payer health care bill. In 2005, he voted against the extension of the PATRIOT Act calling it “a blank check to trample civil liberties." He’s a board member of Amnesty International. Recently, Neil was one of three Democrats to vote against passage of the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act.
