What a tragic hypocrisy. President Bush vetoes stem cell research funding on the premise of killing embryonic life because he doesn’t want to cross that moral line? He crossed that years ago when he commanded our troops to invade a sovereign nation on unsubstantiated information of which our own intelligence would have discounted had they been given this ‘information’ and by whom. Mr. Bush cannot feign ignorance for being misled because he had a constitutional responsibility to know the facts himself and weigh ALL of the information that was readily available from SWORN TESTIMONY from respected generals AND the UN IAEA inspectors.
This administration has consistently caused more harm and detriment to the American People in almost every aspect of our social welfare. Who is Mr. Bush to decide when life is sacred and when it isn’t? Why does an embryo (definitely pre-life in scientific terms!) have exempt status of funding which has extremely positive potential for millions of Americans (and billions of humans), of which the embryo will be destroyed anyway, and continue to place tax-paying AMERICAN ADULTS in the most hazardous environment, OF HIS OWN MAKING, and not be held accountable (both criminally and civilly) for his GROSSLY NEGLIGENT HYPOCRITICAL DECISIONS?
And our legislative branch doesn't have the votes to over-ride his veto especially in light of the fact that the majority of us support embryonic stem cell research and disapprove of the Iraq war? Isn't this supposed to be a representative government? In light of these two subjects alone, it is Absolutely Necessary that the majority be heard! Congressmen and women, Are You Listening? Do you even have a moral compass handy? What's your definition of life?
