A few days ago, a website that I post to now and then had a glitch. Sometimes glitches can be a bad thing, but this time it happened in a way that I was able to use to demonstrate graphically the problems with elections in the U.S.

::::::::

The story that I'd posted a link to was about a court in Austria that had refused to recognize a chimpanzee as a person.

The comments below the story explain what happened next, how the glitch changed the numbers, what eventually was done to fix it, and a whole lot more.

Here's a link to the post:

Please pass it on to everyone you can. Glitches this fortuitous don't happen every day. Enjoy!

Note: The little yellow box to the left of the story at the top that says "note it" is the count that is used to determine which stories get the most notes and should be promoted to the front page of that site. Below the story are comments, and below the comment is a "noted by" list of everyone who noted that particular story. One would think that a computer would have no difficulty tallying the number of people who note a story or who cast a vote, since counting is something that computers do well.

Sometimes.   ;)
