Long before the German wall fell and Russia and the U. S. were battling in a cold war, a group called The John Birch Society, came on the scene, accusing every one and their dogs and cats, ... Communists. Since the wall came down, the embarrassed group had to find something else to focus on. Oddly, on the local news at the Oklahoma Capitol, Mexican members of the state, who had worked on and built up their small, successful businesses, rightfully had questions about the new hate-filled Lou Dobbs and his agenda against Mexican illegals. Actually, a new law went into affect November 1, dealing with the undocumented workers, and the group had some important questions.
I happened to note that a man, dressed in a suit, was identified as a John Birch Society member. Interesting. What was their stand on undocumented workers? Well, I knew that the group wants the United States to pull out of The United Nations. So, I started doing a little, Net hunting and came up with an interesting fact. The fact is, that The Church Of The Latter Day Saints is soft on The John Birch Society. Question?
I'd like to ask Mitt Romney if he is a member of the JBS? John Birchers are further right than even the main stream, run-of-the-mill right winger.
By the way, FYI, I am listening to a newly reissued "Steve Goodman" album - the man who wrote the greatest train song in the world, "A Train Called The City of New Orleans." Worth a listen to! Goodman died in 1984 of leukemia - way too soon. The album is a compilation of several of his great recordings.
