Envision a world where people are
born, and nurtured along to make a decent living as a productive citizen within
a community, and then die in the supportive arms of that same community.
Is this a pipe dream that has no
chance of being? Dare we rise above the
status quo to question how we are living?
Sure, many say, "oh, if we engage in protests, vote and put into office
those we want it'll all be well." Has that
worked? Has anything really worked for
the past 6,000 or more years? Yes, in
school we heard of the tyranny of the Roman Empire and the brutality of the
feudal states. Today is different
how? What are the filthy rich if not
modern day landowners and we their miserly slaves working for penance? Forget
wages, wages as we see them are slips of paper called checks or dollar bills
that ultimately aren't worth the paper their printed on. Like the movie "The Matrix," it's all a
computer generated illusion.
Oh, sure, the unions played their
game and were able to win comfortable wages and benefits. And, people gave
their lives for this noble quest and spent time behind bars. For what? Yes sir re, we thought, it was
upward and onward. Why one day we middle
class working types would be buzzing about in our flying cars and walking on
skyways built in the heavens. These were
all corporate lies to keep us stupefied.
Yes, we of the Jetson set became
fat, dumb and lazy in holding onto what was fought for with hard earned sweat,
tears and blood. The plot worked
beautifully. It worked for we were like
frogs being slowly boiled in a pan of water.
We didn't see it coming. Now, ain't
it getting hot? Do you feel it yet? "Nazis burning Jews in this country? No way!"
Flip through the channels. Who are the modern day Jews? The Arabs, perhaps? Women? Blacks?
How did this happen? Easy enough, we
were entertained into submission. We can
flip aggressively through 5,000 cable channels and still complain "not a damn
thing on!" The strategy worked
beautifully. Let them have; then let's
take away".let them fall under the weight of their own fat as we keep them
intoxicated on drama queens and kings.
Yes, we chose plastic over our
children's future. All for short-term
pleasures and profits.
Easy pickings, we were. God forbid we should wake up to this
mess. What would we do with it?
EnvisionThis! Is a show Merry and I
are continuing to work on that addresses these issues. We have written our vision statement and are
beginning to identify those who can be instrumental to teaching us ways to
empower ourselves. EnvisionThis! Connects
listeners to innovators who empower humanity to thrive in symbiosis with our
living Earth. Merry and Burl Hall
interview visionaries of resilient communities, regenerative ecosystems,
equitable economies and healthy people.
We are now registered onto the
website and are setting ourselves up to begin the challenge.
We have a list of potential
interviewees and are looking for more.
Do you know of anybody that would fit into this category? Please let us know!
