No intelligence agency anywhere in the world actually believes that Iran's nuclear program, ultimately, is intended for purely peaceful means.

::::::::

Iran is, in fact, a nightmare implementation of Shiriah Law.  As recently as 2004, a 16 year old girl who had been repeatedly raped by a 51 year old man from the time she was 13 was executed by being hung by her neck from a crane in a public place.  Her crime was a “crime against chastity.”  One man made the decision to murder this young girl and his decision was given no credible opportunity for appeal.

The age of consent in Iran is 9.

Women in Iran are constantly confronted by “morality police” whose sole job is the intimidation of women who choose to dress as they wish.

By way of contrast, the age of consent in the United States when we developed the atomic bomb was 21.  We regularly condemned people to death by electrocution using a jury of their peers.

Yet we needlessly executed well over 100,000 innocent Japanese to send a message to the rest of the world that “the new sheriff in town” wasn’t going to tolerate violations of its values by any country.  Values which, over time, have represented the destruction of the Magna Carta, the indefinite detention of citizens and the take-over of its critical governmental functions by foreign nations.

If you were Israel, would you want Iran to have access to a technology that would allow them to create nuclear weapons outside of the credible control and knowledge of the international community?

I wouldn’t.

In fact, given what I know about human behavior, I wouldn’t want any form of government that seeks to repress the free expression of the best that humanity has to offer to be in possession of any weapon of mass destruction.

We have proven we couldn’t, and can’t, properly handle nuclear technology peacefully.  No amount of “morally superior” rhetoric from a nation run under the boot of “Shiriah law” can convince me that anyone is safer knowing that Iran has access to a WMD.

Iran is in the process of securing and hardening its military infrastructure against attack from the United States.  We have less than 1 year to stop Iran from becoming an impregnable fortress.

By the same token, 19 perniciously disaffected Saudi males were put forward by Israeli intelligence services as the culprits behind a major terrorist attack on US soil that resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent people.  The Saudi royal family lives in fear of an imperial Iran, yet the Saudi brand of Muslim theocracy results in the same atrocities our Founding Fathers attempted to legislate us free from.

The former Soviet Union is behind Iran and is responsible for selling them the equipment needed to harden their infrastructure from military attack.

Do we talk, do we listen, or do we take action?  Who do we partner with and why?

 This is a useful discussion because the elements are real, the decisions are happening now and the consequences of any mistake will impact the world for over 100 years.
