Manuel Zelaya, President of Honduras for the last 3 years, was ousted on Sunday morning but nothing appears on OEN. Perhaps a coup in the poorest country in Central America isn't news. Perhaps the ties to Cuba and Venezuela slows things down. Perhaps the question of CIA in the middle east is too compelling.A referendum is in question. The Honduras constitution limits a president's term to only 1 not 2 terms. (what a concept -- maybe one the US should consider?) Opposition by the middle and upper classes has been increasing and the court ruling that the referendum was unconstitutional (isn't that the point of the referendum -- to consider the change . . .) brought tempers and opposition to a head.
The question posed by one reporter seems pertinent: just who is running the country now?
