What really baffles me about Hillary's comment about MLK - that it took a president to enact civil rights legislation - is not about racism, or elitism. It is the fact that it really doesn't bolster her point. After all, Barack Obama is running for president. If he can inspire people like MLK did, and has the opportunity to sign legislation as LBJ did, then he's way ahead of the game. For all the ill will her comment engendered, it hardly seemed worth it. In fact, it seemed more like an expression of envy at Obama's appeal.
