The Empire has a closet full of skeletons. Why can't they be exploited? Here's one scenario I can imagine...I wonder why can't the Iranians?

::::::::

Apparently USreal is trying to make the Iranian "nuclear program" (whatever that exactly is) into a pretext for the next PNAC war of aggression.

However, as the clock ticks, and the Empire finally focuses on this particular casus belli, investing more and more political capital (and any remaining shred of credibility?), posturing and pleading on the world stage,  indulging in the most embarrassingly hypocritical rhetoric, etc., it also may be going out on a limb.

Here's what the Iranians should say:

Ok, as a result of what allegedly happened to you on 9/11/01, you claim to be fighting a legitimate "War on Terror", whereupon you attacked and invaded Afghanistan and then Iraq. Now, apparently, under the rubric of the said "War on Terror", you demand that Iran stop enriching uranium; an activity we see as our legitimate, legal right.

We will agree to indefinately suspend the enrichment of uranium on our soil under one condition: You prove, by way of a comprehensive, transparent, international investigation, into both the attacks of 9/11/01 and the subsequent "Anthrax attacks", that the events of 9/11/2001, transpired substantially as you have claimed they did.
