Approximately 100 infants die via drowning in toilets every year. The reason is because there is no national law to require toilet's to be tall enough to prevent infants from falling into them. The average toilet is approx. 18 inches off of the ground which is the perfect height for a newly walking infant to fall into and drown. If it were mandated that all toilets had to be approx. 24 inches (my guestimate) off of the ground that would reduce the # of infants that die via drowning to ZERO each year. I became aware of this problem when I had to treat an infant that drowned in a toilet on July 4th 2006. I tried to contact the consumer product safety commission but so far I have had no luck. The solution is an easy one all we need to do is make people aware. So let's save some babies. Help me figure out WHO we need to get this info to?
thanks
Ben
