What is up with the wingnuts these days?  Even before Arlen Specter’s defection, they’ve really ramped up the “crazy,” blaming Obama and/or the Democrats for everything from bankrupting the country (actually, that was the Bush Crime Family’s doing) to causing the failure of the auto industry to putting the nation at risk of terrorist attack by disclosing the previous administrations torture practices.

Now comes that nutty neocon from Minnesota, Rep.  Michelle Bachman, suggesting the Democrats, and perhaps President Obama himself, have a connection to the swine flu epidemic.  (BTW - has anyone ever seen Bachman in the same room with Katherine Harris?  Hmmmmm . . . .) According to the Huffington Post, batty Bachman stated that the history of swine flu and Democratic leaders dates back to the days of Jimmy Carter.  “I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter,” Bachman noted on Tuesday.

Whoa there Michelle -- have you alerted the CDC?  Maybe you’re on to something here.  The entire public health  community must’ve missed this undeniable scientific link between Democratic Presidents and the influenza virus!  Quick!  Quarantine the entire DLC!  Stop them before they kill again!!!

One problem:  (well, several problems, really, but this one is easy to fact check) Republican Gerald Ford was President during the last swine flu outbreak.

Dang.  Other than that, her logic was flawless
