A holiday message published in my local newspaper. All of us should take the time to write in to our newspapers this holiday season and make sure people are thinking about Christmas in more than just the capitalist way.

::::::::

Goodwill
To all the soldiers who cannot be home with their families this Christmas because they were not brought home this year like the Democrats claimed they would be in the 2006 election, and who were not allowed to receive anonymous holiday postcard greetings from fellow Americans out of fear that toxic substances or demoralizing messages from the terrorists might reach them in Iraq: Merry Christmas.

Let us all remember the importance of peace and goodwill toward men. While our leaders in America are showing us the importance of "toward men" more than "peace and goodwill," we can take this opportunity to share with our families on Christmas how important it is to fight and believe in peace, joy, faith and goodwill.

May the spirit of Christmas bring you peace, the gladness of Christmas give you hope and the warmth of Christmas grant you love. And may all that peace, hope and love become more than the spirit of Christmas but the spirit of life throughout each year.

War is over, if you want it. Happy Christmas.

Kevin Gosztola
Mishawaka

Pax Um Discum (Peace Be With You) this holiday season.
