I didn't start this war. I didn't want this war. Yet it's MY face the world sees when Marines lose their minds. It's MY face the world sees when children lose their lives... their limbs... their hope. It's MY face the world sees when sanctions are imposed. It's MY face the world sees when torture occurs. It's MY face at Abu Ghraib. MY face at Guantanamo.I am America. I voted. Not once for George Bush. But I lost. And George Bush is MY face to the world.
Not until we remove Bush from office. Not until we imprison Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney, Wolfewitz, Rice, Franks, Bremmer, Powell and Perle. Not until we take control of our nation. Not until we fight to regain our dignity and our humanity. Not until we remove ourselves from nations we have mercilessly destroyed. Not until we empty the halls of American government and dispose of those too fearful to extricate and imprison this Executive Branch. Not until we promise the world we will never use our immoral "muscle" and dispose of it once and for all. Not until then will I not feel the shame that I feel tonight.
I love my country. But my country's been taken away.
