You indulge in decadent debate: as commentators from across the cultural spectrum argue over a term for a prostitute, last night the world economy collapsed.

Every single stock market across the world plunged last night. Some Asian indices were down over six percent.

The fact remains, while the vast majority of humanity's poor are not invested in stock markets, their lives are essentially prostituted to the interests of those elite few who are invested.
