I don't have a religious bone in my body and am being annoyed by Jehovah's Witnesses. Now I find myself searching for freedom from religion.

::::::::

What is it about religion that whenever someone finds it, the first thing they want to do is cram it down someone else's throat? My Parents weren't religious, I wasn't raised with religion and have never been more than slightly curious as to why many desire to immerse themselves in such blind faith. I am now infected with Jehovah's Witnesses.

The first shock troop was a woman who stopped by the house twice and I informed her I was not interested in canned belief systems. She did not return, but was replaced by a man who is also an Army Veteran. He's a nice guy, but I can't get all worked up over the religion. This time he came with another man and left me with their traditional flotsam, awake and watchtower, what I view as nothing more than propaganda.

Awake is terminally cutesey and makes me puke and watchtower is nothing more than fear mongering. The cover of awake asks "jehovah's witnesses, who are they?", as if they are trying to distance themselves from the question. My answer to the question is zombies. That is what the couple on the cover look like. Not the ones in the stupid movie with brains, but someone who appears to have just received their first of many lobotomies.

The cover of watchtower asks "is the end near?", with a most fanciful graphic of the earth being engulfed in fire and ice. They are fixated on the end. Then there are articles of how the bible saved lives and cured disease. I suppose they can write anything they want, as these are their publications. They also have a curious view of science, as when it supports their beliefs, it is good, but when it disagrees with them, it is bad and evil.

Of four freedoms supposedly guaranteed under the Constitution, religion is one of the top. The Pilgrims came to North America to annoy the natives with their quaint ways, funny clothes and extreme beliefs in order to escape religious persecution back home. Now that I am plagued with Jehovah's Witness', I find myself searching for freedom from religion.
