Food and food policy biased toward agribusiness and genetic manipulation pose a major hazard to the nation's fod supply.

::::::::

There are thousands of farmers who have been involuntarily and illegally downsized over the years as a result of a federal farm policy that began in 1972. Read into the Congressional Record, the Young Farmers plan outlined a plan to rid the nation of "inefective/inefficient" family farames in favor of monstrous agri-businesses.

A retired federal employee, now a farm activist,

<Dwane> Burger also joins others who believe that a concerted effort to close down family farm operations has been in effect since 1972 when the USDA published the Young Executives Report in the June 21 Congressional Record, "a thirty-year strategic plan focused on reorganizing American agriculture to remove and replace family farms with corporate farming to supposedly make the United States more competitive." (Susan Klopfer, click here

Through similar mindsets among the agri-industrialists, a 35 year old campaign to drive farmers out of business has long since been the task of the US Department of Agriculture.  While the focus of many people of color over the last decade has been the racist policies of the USDA vis a vis, illegally withholding  loans, forging documents, allegedly giving procedes of loans to white farmers when the loan is charged to a black farmer's account,  the so-called Black Farmer Settlement and its mis-administration reflects a broader anti-small farmer, pro-agribusiness policy in the agency.

This plan, combined with a bend over backwards policy toward agribusinesses, and seed gene manipulators are leaving our food supply vulnurable to just a few prime seeds, which are the property of these industory factory meat producers and mega seed company cum genetic manipulators.

Larry Mack's September article on Indybay.org, (“Beef’s stake in the election”  And What I Think About It) describes the political climate of US agribusiness, from his perspective as a cattle rancher.  The article enompasses a wide range of problems from our broken healthcar system and the insurance vampires that are driving us to the poorhouse. click here
