A brief critique of the bipartisan bailout of the Wall Street titans.

Bush seems to be intent on ending his disastrous administration with a disastrous MULTI-HUNDRED-BILLION-DOLLAR bailout of Wall Street. The Democrats are going along for the ride, failing to be an opposition party. Why the hell should taxpayers bail out Wall Street? Those banks made bad investments and they need to pay the price, not us. I know people are worried about the economy, but giving fiscal fellatio to a bunch of companies that are suffering the consequences of their mistakes is not the answer.

Here's an idea to stimulate the economy: end the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan now and cut the bloated, wasteful military budget. Spend some of the savings on human needs at home and some on paying down our crushing national debt. All the Democrats have ever had to do to end the Iraq war is not vote the money. They've had that power since 2006. I'm still waiting . . .

 

My intellectual awakening is ongoing. Lately, politically, I'm most interested in efforts to break down two-party rule in this country. I registered Green after the Democrats won control of Congress. The more I think about it, the happier I am with (more...)
