Filibuster not Their Idea
If you mow your lawn the weeds will always come back. The only way to get rid of your weeds is to get down on your knees with your $2 weeder and take out the roots of the weeds. The root cause of Martha Coakley's loss of Ted Kennedy's Massachusetts Senate Seat to Scott Brown was the filibuster rule in the U.S. Senate.
Today Formula 1 team Mercedes announced that they were giving Michael Schumacher his team mate Nico Rosberg's car number "3" because Michael Schumacher prefers odd numbers. Formula 1 team Mercedes also announced that they were dropping driver Nico Rosberg and replacing him with Barack Obama. Mercedes announced that Barack Obama will be driving the new Mercedes Soap Box Derby Car #59.
It is impossible to bring change to American politics when the political system is infected with the cancerous Senate filibuster rule. President Obama was dying to reform our broken health care system, to bring quality affordable health care to all Americans. Unfortunately the Senate filibuster rule single handedly denied quality affordable health care to all Americans. This is Sicko.
Now the filibuster rule is metastasizing. The political momentum has swung to the Republicans. The democratic voters have formed a lynch mob against their own President Obama. The latent racism of Harry Reid, Bill Clinton and the Republican Party Tea Baggers is imploding the Democratic Party. If the 2010 November elections were held today the Democrats wouldn't win a seat.
How quickly we forget. We forget that before President Obama was elected things had gotten so bad that President Bush, who drove the bus into the ditch, threatened Congress that if they did not bail out the banks, he would declare martial law immediately. The fascist George Bush and Dick Cheney lied us into Iraq, bankrupted the treasury and threatened the United States of America with a real live fascist government unless we bailed out the banks, because Bush and Cheney had taken the Clinton surplus and turned it into a monstrous deficit which had us all on the verge of another Great Depression. Now, because of the filibuster rule, even Democrats one year later are running back to the fascist GOP, who already threatened us all with fascism.
Katie Couric proved to America that Bimbo Sarah Palin was illiterate. Sarah Palin has now proved to the fascist GOP elite that she is qualified to be their Oval Office puppet, that she will do anything for fame and fortune. The image makers of the fascist GOP are now creating Sarah Palin in their own image. They had a ghostwriter write her best selling book "Going Whore". Sarah is an ignorant scizophrenic who said that it was God's will that she be President. Sarah Palin said that it was God's will that she and John McCain attack the Middle East.
Lets recap what just happened in Massachusetts. Barack Obama inherited a dilemma. Either he bailed out the banks, or he didn't bail out the banks and the country sank into a Great Depression. He chose to bail out the banks. This was not good enough for the banks. They preferred the GOP who were willing to declare martial law by executive order to protect their casino. And so they deliberately made President Obama look bad by awarding themselves obscene billion dollar bonuses. The bankers struck gold. The number one reason that Massachusetts Democrats elected Scott Brown was their anger over the bank bailouts and bonuses. Now, because of the loss of the filibuster proof Democratic Super Majority, the Democrats will never be able to pass meaningful financial reform.
President Obama was dying to fix the health care system. The Republicans, the party of the elite, opposed it, and were well paid by the Pharmaceutical and Insurance Companies to kill it. Because of the filibuster rule President Obama needed 60 votes. He did not have 60 votes to pass single payer. President Obama publicly endorsed the public option but he didn't have 60 Senate votes. Then the idea came up that Medicare would be extended to 55 year olds.
This is where John McCain's running mate Joe Lieberman killed off that idea. Then Ben Nelson demanded $300 million and exemptions for Nebraska to be number 60. What resulted was a watered down health care bill giveaway to the drug and insurance companies that so sickened the Democratic voters of Massachusetts that they turned on Obama and elected Scott Brown over Martha Coakley. If this continues the Democrats will be tsunamied in 2010 and 2012 and the United States will become Nazi Germany with Sarah Palin as the figurehead puppet leader of the warmongering elite. A team including Karl Rove is now writing Sarah Palin's scripts at Fox News to make it appear that she has a brain.
Either we kill the Senate filibuster rule immediately or the United States of America descends into a fascist dictatorship run by the GOP elite led by torturers and murderers, with no middle class, only elites and peasants, led by Jeb Bush, Karl Rove, and Dick Cheney. If we do kill the filibuster we will get real quality affordable universal healty care, meaningful financial reform, jobs and our freedom.
The filibuster is not part of our Constitution. The Constitution gives the House and Senate the freedom to make their own rules. The filibuster is merely a senate rule that can be erased as quickly as it was created. The filibuster today is used 100% of the time by the minority GOP to run the country with 41 votes. Imagine Dick Cheney with 60 Senate Seats. Last week Barbara Boxer had a severe case of diarrhea but Mitch McConnel threatened to filibuster her use of the washrooom unless she gave $300 million to Churchill Downs.
The Democratic Party now must pivot to ending the filibuster rule. This idiotic rule forced on President Obama is blocking hope and change. A democracy is defined as a government in which the people hold the ruling power through elected representatives. A democracy is defined as majority rule. Let Vice President Biden, the President of the Senate introduce a bill abolishing the filibuster. Let Vice President Biden declare the filibuster unconstitutional and abolish it.
Upon the seating of a new congress, there is a window of time in which the new Senate can change the rules, with a simple majority of 50 votes plus the Vice President Joe Biden equals 51. By definition, upon the seating of Scott Brown, we have a new Senate.
Let the GOP try to filibuster the abolition of the filibuster. Let the GOP stand on the floor of the Senate explaining to the people off the United States that they oppose democracy. This will be the end of the GOP, it will rescue us from fascism and we will have the reforms that will save our country. Now is the golden moment for President Obama to give us real hope and change we all can believe in. Let us use all of our hearts and minds and souls to build a real democracy by simply abolishing the filibuster rule. God Bless President Obama and these United States of America with the wisdom and the courage to abolish the Senate filibuster rule before it is too late for us all.
