Sometimes it seems that we are facing a hopeless situation regarding the government moving towards endless war, martial law, and tyranny that we cannot avoid or stop… A slow and inevitable slide towards fascism and the end of Liberty. I do not accept this. It is self-defeating, and simply wrong… Nothing here is inevitable, all it will take from us to turn this thing around is the will to succeed, and the effort to make our fellows aware of what has happening at a grass-roots level…. Changing one mind at a time. For we must all now examine this hard Truth: As long as we have a controlled mainstream media, the United States is no longer a free country.
What are we talking about here? The utter control of our mainstream media, much like that of a totalitarian state’s. The slow decline of our Liberties and our Constitutional Rights. The undermining and corrupting of our government and way of life. Perhaps even our eventual enslavement in one form or another. We are talking about the lying-to and brain-washing of the American people to an extent that Hitler and Goebbels only dreamed of: The “dumbing-down” and wholesale manipulation of an entire nation.
These are “wild conspiracy theories”… Yet many of us here know the controlled media part at least to be quite true nonetheless. When attempting to change another’s mind on these subjects, “conspiracy” is itself an important term to cover. After all many of us know that the media and government have spent considerable time and trouble to insure the phrase “conspiracy theory” is derogatory and “auto-discounting”… So that anything coming before or after it is automatically ignored or even derided. Point this out to the person you are attempting to enlighten. Also mention the national poll of the early 90’s that listed over 90% in the U.S. believes there was a conspiracy in the Kennedy Assassination, yet no one in mainstream media has ever voiced those opinions on-air. Another tool for removing the “conspiracy ” bias is the official story of who was responsible for “911” : Point out that the Bush administration’s accusations against Osama Bin Laden are nothing more than conspiracy theories in themselves (he has never been officially charged with any crimes regarding “911” by the FBI).
When I receive skepticism for my comments about how the government is moving towards martial law and tyranny; I will usually change tack and begin by pointing out instances of media manipulation. This is an effective means of breaking-through the patiently propagandized mind-sets of many individuals, a way to bring them along slowly to the premise that their government is in the hands of unseen powers; that their world-view is not accurate and has been deliberately manipulated. You can first show a person the control of MSM via examples: Videos, articles at respectable sites that DO NOT have “911 Truth” items on them, and news stories in the foreign press that never make it into MSM. Then let them alone to think about it for a bit; opening someone’s mind to the concept of a wholly-controlled media is often a traumatic event. Then next show why media control is an absolute requirement for the people in power to achieve their goals; how a questioning media would have derailed plans and made the current situation we are in impossible to create. Perhaps follow up with the parallels between the U.S. now, and the rise of fascism in the 1920's and 30's in Europe. It should be a patient process, sometimes taking weeks. Rushing it won’t help with most people in my experience.
Some may claim these are mind-control techniques in themselves: They are not. The difference is that we are attempting to help others see more and widely varied opinions, which allow them to form better informed judgments on their own. We can give them the book, read them the blerbs, but we cannot make them read it. We point the way for them to do more research on their own. Be aware that few will thank you for all this; that is just human nature: Our gratification should come from within, for doing a small service to our Country.
A very effective means of illustrating big media's Orwellian control are the cases of Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich in the earlier stages of the ’08 Primaries: Big media was forced to show its hand here in ways rarely so obvious or blatant…Or ways so easily proven! This manipulation is especially spectacular in Representative Paul's case: The deliberate "disappearing" of a well-funded candidate who came in second in at least 2 primaries, yet whose name is not mentioned or seen in the same election coverage (including missing from pie-charts and graphs showing total votes), is a smoking gun pointing to a wholly-controlled "mainstream" media little better than the old Soviet news agencies. When the person is then also made aware of the messages Kucinich and Paul were not allowed to speak of on a national level, the picture of what is happening becomes clearer; and the implications chilling enough to hit home. In one small way we are “blessed” by having both of these brave Congressmen equally excluded; it helps deflect any accusations of partisan bias and “sour grapes” on the part of us who supported them. I submit that Big Media made a dangerous mistake by so openly blacklisting the reform candidates…. And it is now up to us to take full advantage of this; and make them pay for their errors by exposing them for what they are.
The one thing Big Media cannot hide is these exclusions themselves; by definition they are glaring and easily documented. I believe it is their Achilles heel; and will be the seeds of our eventual victory. By making the public aware of big medias’ deceit, one mind at a time, the entire paradigm we face can be changed; perhaps faster than we could have imagined as it could have a cascading exponential effect. As more vocal opponents appear, Big Media will eventually be forced onto the defensive, made to dust-off their journalistic ethics, and coerced into covering all these important and “dangerous” stories that it ignores and pretends do not exist now… Otherwise risking 100% loss of credibility and a general insurgence against their continued existence. Once a crack or two is introduced into the façade of “fair and balanced news”, journalists themselves will begin speaking out in much greater numbers (…if only in “enlightened self-interest”). And it is clear that the loss of the controlled media spells the end for those hiding in the darkness…. Remember that their hubris has led them to believe in their own invincibility, and they have made many mistakes in covering-up their personal involvements and motives: The only thing keeping them safe is the protection of MSM’s silence. With the weakening of their ally, these errors can be exploited and the criminals finally brought to justice.
There are ways to poke needles into our opponents in Big Media to move them towards reform: Newspapers’ online articles and blogs are often uncensored; and a good way to get the news about the corruption of Big Media out there at a local level (one such good way is to goad the newspaper for not covering important suppressed stories, such as “Sibel Edmonds”). Writing Letters to the Editors is also effective: Even if they are highly critical of media, and not published, the sheer volume and tone will help influence Editors. They are, after all, people too… Not faceless enemies. And they are as nearly prone to influence as any citizen. It is my feeling that more and more professional journalists in Big Media will rebel against what they see, and knowing there is a large and constantly growing segment of the population out there no longer being fooled can only help them make that fateful decision.
But we are running out of time: Everyone who fears for our future in these respects must work now towards reaching friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors at the grass-roots level. There will be many we approach who will become actively hostile: It is best to simply move on in these cases; and do good work where it can be done. But we need to remember that every time we open a mind of our fellows to what is happening here, it is a victory for America and Liberty; a sprig of hope in a vast winter of despair, and a sure sign that Spring is on the way.
