Some folks, cannot seem to get it through their heads that "John's" Apocalypse/Revelations, is NOT a prediction of the fictional "End of Days" it is an impotent Curse/Prayer on Rome made by some person or persons with an extraordinary imagination for fiction. The person, or more likely persons, because the idiomatic nature of the Apocalypse/Revelations changes, is/was unknown to the fledgling church so as they did with the gospels they attached a famous name to the anonymous work-"John." If one translates from the Greek, it is easier to see the changes that imply more than one writer or editor. The church and the state in Constantine's reign, realized what a boon a church that preached gentleness and peace would be, what a superior way to brainwash the public into lethargy, would be to make it a state religion and avoid revolution or Civil war. What followed was highly flawed, sexually immature or homosexual, or just plain nutcases, who became "Theologians" the early Church "Fathers and Doctors" and terrorists like Athanasius. Later folks learned that bright whack jobs could easily twist Jesus' doctrinal ideas into a way to justify Inquisitional torture and other violence to perpetuate their religion that stressed "Peace and gentleness," which is why Jefferson and our forefathers here, so hated state religions. That is why they rightfully separated Church and state. The God, of which my experiences and correct predictions speak, is no friend of the air-headed but spooky Fundamentalist view of what they call "God." Their god (No Caps intentional) is a fictional whack-job as is their interpretation of "John's" Apocalypse, which as I said above is no prediction of the end of anything but Rome's violent, Fascistic, but with the twist which gave birth to Great Britain, a State/Nation based on what we call Fascism (Caps intentional) in which the state is the capitalistic monster, preying on other nations, and if they are particularly greedy, their own people. That is what the present Fascist American Neo-Cons have dreamt up for our citizens and the rest of the world and they have employed the Religions of Fools, to twist Jesus' message, and God into a Fascist version of Satan with a Halo. By nature, any organization which is run by the wealthy, whose childhoods and formative years were in the hands of liars, thieves and people shorn of conscience and soul, whose early days were made up of cheating at games, sports, and grade altering by intimidation, will grow up to be tyrants. They will, as they have attracted the opposite of FDR/JFK's "Only the Best and the Brightest," so they attract the "Worst and the most fucked-up, dumb and conscienceless." The above last few paragraphs describe the cretins, which now hold the reigns of government here and in Great Britain. Great Brittain has always seemed to be dominated by people willing to serve as serfs. America has always seemed a nation which as Thomas Jefferson suggested, should remain armed and ready to, and should revolt every score of years, if necessary.
The twisted version of "John's Apocalypse" is the one presented to feeble minded and easily influenced god wannabes, which they gobbled up lake starving puppies. Now, I do not comprehend why sometimes even brighter people are captivated by "John's prayer/curse, a mode of writing which was very popular in the ancient pagan world, because they believed that prayer/curses by the impotent against the potent, were all they had as weapons and here on "John" the imagery fitted the pagan mode perfectly for the new crowd of "Christians." The unfortunate thing about it's modern adherents, is that they have twisted what the not so educated ancients knew to be nothing more than a prayer/curse, a work of imagination fiction into reality for them. It is strange and a non-tribute to our educational systems that ignorant, uneducated, illiterate, peoples saw "Apocalypse/Revelations" for what it was because it was a common thing in their day, people were always "bewitching" the powerful with prayer curse literature for thousands of years. People stopped doing that because (A) it did not work, and (B) because they became more well educated and found more activist means of harnessing tyrants. Now we have arrived at the heart of the matter; we are in the pickle in which we presently find ourselves because of twisted reinterpretations of an ancient work read by people unfamiliar with it's form, people naïve' and some a bit weak minded, so we have a repeat of ancient Serf/Royalty times, ignorant people dumbed down by a bankrupt educational system and a group of wolves running fictional religions while the real God stands by sadly shaking his head.
That is why we now have the Bushites in government-the reestablishment of ancient times. The modern misinterpretation was taken advantage of by writers of fiction, which fictions some addled-brained folks, which ancestors may have incestually mated with each other too often, a prime factor in the "Old South" to give us the present horror of Inquisitional Fascism Redux, fiction to horrifying reality.
