Everyone remembers Dennis Hopper, the movie star with the nasal voice and ironically deferential or aggressive manner who could get your goat six ways from Tuesday. He played Jordan Benedict in Giant (1956) with Rock Hudson and James Dean, Billy in Easy Rider (1969) with Peter Fonda and Jack Nicolson, and the Cracker-Stranger in Human Highway (1982) with Neil Young and Dean Stockwell. Fewer remember Dennis Hopper, the collector and creator of modern art, including his own remarkable black and white photographs.
