He played Jordan Benedict in Giant (1956) with Rock Hudson and James Dean, Billy in Easy Rider (1969) with Peter Fonda and Jack Nicolson, and the Cracker-Stranger in Human Highway (1982) with Neil Young and Dean Stockwell.
Fewer remember Dennis Hopper, the collector and creator of modern art, including his own remarkable black and white photographs.
