The debates are what the Democratic and Republican leadership want.
They give the saps (voters) the image of a full range of choices, while shepherding the voters to the candidates that toe the Party Line.
When the candidates that are ignored in debates lose polls because of their low visibility, the media withdraws them from future debates-- all to the satisfaction of party bosses who didn't want them in the debates in the first place.
Media influence controls your elections. They give a couple candidates dominate attention, instigate or fan the flames of conflicts between two dominant candidates and draw viewers closer to whichever candidate that is in conflict with the one that is more hated. It's not rocket science.
Ron Paul was fielded 5 questions by CNN's Anderson Cooper in a recent primary, to which McCain and Romney were fielded 15 and 17 questions respectively. Conflicts between McCain/Romney and Hillary/Obama are magnified. If you hate Hillary more, you might be convinced that Obama is not such a bad guy if he responds to her with some witty little quip.
That is how they keep attention away from candidates that are undesirable to the establishment. By drawing people into romantic battles between people they initially think are horseshit. In the end, we're left with the same tired, old addage: vote for the lesser of two evils. Meanwhile, your fellow liberal/conservative socialist cheerleading constitutents will tell you, this is the most important election of our lives!!! if you vote 3rd party, you'll waste your vote and _________ will win, plunging america into ____________!
And under such logic you never get to vote for who you think would be the best canditate.
