The Prime Minister of India had just given a speech (I heard it on NPR) about his visit to the US. In that speech he praised the good relationships between 'the oldest democracy and the largest democracy.'
Well, the largest is India, no doubt. But as about the oldest, Mr. PM of India is mistaken, unfortunately. If we exclude the Ancient Greece the worlds oldest democracy (at least when we talk Western civilization)is Switzerland.
Maybe the Indian PM had not noticed the Swisson the map? Or maybe he meant something else- like we, the US are becoming ' old'? Who knows?
But considering the importance of the kind of people we all know will rule the world ( or maybe are ruling it already) it seems rather strange a statement? What do you think?
