The story itself may soon be published here on opednews as Sirota frequently publishes here and it is likely to be linked to by others. But until then, here's the link: Right Gives Away Its Guidebook (Scroll down to the 12/31/06 entry) Sirota explains that we're not doing ourselves any favors by compromising our positions so as to protect the Democrats from criticism. What Sirota fails to mention, in my view, is that the right was funded by wealthy people and huge corporations that stood to (and did) make trillions in profits from a right-wing takeover. Progressives can never match that sort of funding, but it is possible to at least match the techniques that were funded, according to Sirota. But again, without owning the media, we already know that it is a lot more difficult to put those techniques into practice. The separation of the neo-cons from the Republicans in order to concentrate on pushing their agenda and to avoid being co-opted by the Republican Party, is something that Sirota believes progressives could also benefit from.
