Carrying water for the mainstream media after the Kennedy Assassination...being the company-man from Texas...and this guy has the nerve to complain about the way things are today?
Does this idiot realize that he played a HUGE role in allowing things to be as they are this very day!
Dan Rather has been a mouthpiece for corporate America and the fascists who took over in 1963 almost from day one. Did he actually think he was being of service to God and country when sold the biggest lie ever floated in the public domain since the physical resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth?
Dan Rather getting fired by the same contingent whom he carried water for during the 1960's and 70's is the kind of karmic justice that befalls those who would betray their own integrity for a dollar that hasn't been worth the paper it's been printed on since we abandoned the gold standard.
To hear Rather whine and complain about the way things are in the mainstream media of today is truly ironic and speaks to the depth of character the man possesses...or doesn't.
In general, I'm still as cranked about the assassinations of the 1960's as fundie Christians are about the execution of Jesus. I think my anger is more justified and probably more directly related to the presence and survival of the Jewish state than Jesus' execution was. Evidence? Notice how JFK denied Israel's request to create nuclear weaponry and how quickly LBJ allowed it to happen once he entered office? The evidence is there, folks.
I don't believe that all Jews are bad or that there is any justification for embarking on a campaign to make matters ethnic and worse. We created what we defended against here. One can not expect a particular ethnicity of people to be hounded over century after century and not develop a deep distrust of friend and foe alike. Back any group of humans into a corner based on ANY criteria and you will find them coming together so that they can come out swinging.
Rich indo-Europeans are responsible for turning the discussion from one of rich versus poor to Jew versus Gentile. Get rid of excess wealth and power by evenly distributing it (as democracy tries to do), and equanimity can't help but be the result. Just because Jews were the first ethnicity to throw off the chains of slavery and become successful does not mean that they are responsible for all the ills of the modern world.
I'm seeing the beginnings of the same phenomenon transpiring with African Americans -- they get disproprotionately blamed for every damn social ill that takes place in American society. And what was their great sin? They didn't want to be slaves any longer...not that they knew how to not be slaves and not that we were ever going to teach them.
Two different ethnicities, one very similar phenomenon: social prejudice. We humans loves to have our slaves and our scapegoats...makes it possible to stay stuck believing we don't need to grow up. Meanwhile, those we oppress effectively DO grow up and they become stronger than the slaveowner. The slaveowner counterattacks by making matters even more difficult for their former slaves. Excuses are manufactured and mythologies established to enculcate prejudice as a part of the slaveowner's culture.
Want a better world? Stop trying to turn people into slaves. Teach freedom and you will be free yourself.
