Senator Larry Craig, absent from the US Senate after being arrested in an undercover sex sting operation in the men's room of a Minneapolis airport in June, wasn't in the US Senate committee rooms to hear in person the testimony about how the United States has not made any significant progress on benchmarks set by the Congress regarding the war in Iraq, but that didn't stop the senator from releasing a statement from Boise on how the testimony has offered him renewed hope for success in Iraq.
Needless to say Craig's renewed hope is about as realistic as his chances of retaining his seat in the Senate.
